The Emmet Till exhibit will travel to several cities around the country, and we were fortunate that this unique alignment of the exhibit and movie landed together here in Indianapolis. The movie is now in general release in theaters. The day was a poignant, emotional, impactful, and relevant experience of our nation’s history. Approximately 100 students across the five schools participated. There was overwhelming interest in this experience from our Upper School student community (despite space limitations at the Museum and movie theater) and our group of 24 students joined students from Cathedral, Brebeuf, ISI, and University High School for this all-day event. There was time for collaborative discussion and reflection after the movie viewing. Till's story, significant in our history, is about his abduction, torture and lynching after he was accused of whistling at a white woman in a store in Mississippi in 1955. On October 26, the Park Tudor Office of Equity and Inclusion in conjunction with the Indiana Area Private School Diversity Consortium (IAPSDC) hosted a field trip for high school students to visit "Emmett Till & Mamie Till-Mobley: Let the World See," an exhibition at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, and view the movie Till at the Regal United Artist Theater at the Circle Center Mall.
